General resources and online portals
- The Research Services & Career Development Center of the University of Vienna has a list of funding opportunities for early-career researchers, offers workshops on funding opportunities for PhD students and assorted workshops/coaching for early post-docs applying to grants. Open Calls are listed here.
- The website https://grants.at/en/ hosts a database of research grants and scholarships applying to students in Austria as well as outgoing and incoming researchers.
- The Stipend Center (https://www.stipendium.at) offers advice and funding opportunities. Their website is in German, but they might also have English-speaking staff in Vienna.
Relocation Grants for incoming students
- The FFG offers relocation (“career”) grants for researchers on a first-come, first served basis.
- Some VDS (“Vienna Doctoral Schools”) offer to reimburse flights, cover the first months of accommodation and/or VISA expenses for incoming PhD students. For this, it’s best to directly contact the manager of the relevant Vienna Doctoral School.
